Interview with Emilio Bueno Peña

Power Electronics is one of the pillars of energy storage, control, and management. To better understand its impact, we talked to Dr. Emilio Bueno Peña, professor at the University of Alcalá de Henares and a reference in Spain in the field of electrical engineering.

In this interview carried out by our colleague Adolfo Ausín, head of Power Electronics at Norvento Enerxía, we discussed about the key concepts and aspects of this technology, its recent progress and its future challenges to achieve a cleaner, more efficient and sustainable energy model.

From energy storage systems to microgrids and power electronic converters, this talk analyses how current technologies are shaping the future of Power Electronics in the transition to renewable energies.

Emilio Bueno Peña

He holds a PhD from the University of Alcalá, where his thesis entitled: ‘Optimisation of the behaviour of a three-level NPC converter connected to the electricity grid’ was a milestone in the research of advanced converters.

He is currently coordinating the ‘Electronic Engineering Applied to Renewable Energy Systems’ research group, where he leads projects focused on the integration of new technologies into the global energy landscape.
