Interview with Marcos Lafoz Pastor

Ocean energy, generated by waves, tides and currents, has enormous renewable potential, but its integration into the grid requires advanced technology. This is where power electronics play an essential role, enabling the conversion, storage and efficient management of this energy in marine environments.

In this new article for the Norvento Enerxía blog, Xalo Rancaño, Power Electronics Engineer, interviews Marcos Lafoz Pastor, researcher at CIEMAT, to analyse the advances and challenges in this field and its impact on the energy transition.

Marcos Lafoz Pastor

Dr. Marcos Lafoz Pastor is a researcher at CIEMAT. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, specialising in Electrical Engineering, and currently heads CIEMAT’s Electrical Drives Unit.

His research focuses on the development of solutions for the generation and storage of renewable energies, as well as their integration into electricity grids. He also coordinates the REMAR-CYTED Network, focused on the study, development and integration of marine energy in Latin American countries.
