Norvento has started the validation tests of the new electrical generator prototype specifically designed for offshore wind. A more efficient and smaller generator that allows the reduction of the size and weight of the turbines. The prototype is being tested in the technology premises at Norvento Enerxía Innovation Centre (CIne) in Lugo, Spain. The project forms part of the CHEF project —Compact Holistic Efficient Floating Turbine— that aims to reduce the cost of the energy produced by offshore wind turbines, improving their efficiency and reducing costs.
The design, development and validation of the new turbine is carried out by a consortium of three companies: the British company Magnomatics, in charge of the design and manufacture of the generator, Seaplace, that have developed a floating platform and Norvento that contributes with its expertise in the use and design of electrical generators and wind turbines. Norvento will test both their technical requirements and their real performance in its testbench in the technology premises where other designs for our own wind turbines have been tested.
