Food, paper and printing, and non-metallic minerals sectors are considered the industrial sectors with the highest potential for renewable energy integration in Spain. In these three industries, energy is a determining factor in terms of consumption volume, economic impact, and relevance for the development of the productive activity, according to data from the study carried out by Norvento Enerxía, a technology group in the renewable energy sector that manufactures systems for energy generation and storage, develops and operates big renewable energy plants and provides advanced energy solutions for self-consumption.
The aim of the study ‘Energy-intensive sectors in Spain’ is to look into what is and will be the impact of renewables on companies and the Spanish economy at a time when the Energy Transition is taking shape at all levels. Thanks to the in-depth analysis of the different sectors carried out by Norvento Enerxía, it has been possible to know which are the main processes of each industry and what energy needs each one of them has, as well as to reveal which industrial processes, currently linked to fossil fuels, can move towards the renewable energies.
