THE SPANISH COMPANY NORVENTO CONTINUES ITS INTERNATIONAL BREAKTHROUGH IN INDUSTRIAL SELF-CONSUMPTION WITH THE INSTALLATION OF TWO NEW WIND TURBINES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

  • The two new turbines have been installed at Kellybank Holiday Park, a rural tourism facility in Ayrshire, Scotland, and are owned by The Small Wind-Co-Op, an energy cooperative supported by crowdfunding.
  • Norvento has been present in the UK since 2014, where it has already installed more than 25 wind turbines.
  • The nED 100 wind turbine has been designed by Norvento specifically for medium power industrial self-consumption.

Madrid, 27th April 2017.- Norvento, a Spanish renewable technologies company with comprehensive performance capabilities, has installed two new nED 100 wind turbines in Scotland (UK) for industrial self-consumption. The Spanish company has had a stable base in the UK since 2014, where it has expanded its industrial self-consumption business and has already installed 25 turbines.

The two new wind turbines have been installed at Kellybank Holiday Park, a rural leisure area in Ayrshire county, Scotland. Both turbines have been operational since the end of March and are owned by The Small Wind-Co-op, an energy cooperative made up of small consumers that is financed through crowdfunding. Each of these wind turbines will produce an estimated 320 MWh per year for at least the next twenty years of the equipment’s lifetime.

The installed machines are the nED100 wind turbines, designed and developed entirely by Norvento. With a height of 24 and a rotor diameter of 22 metres, these turbines have been specifically designed for medium power consumption and are designed for maximum aerodynamic capture, making them ideal for farms, port facilities or hotel and leisure complexes.

The nED100 is the technology with which Norvento intends to break into the large world market for medium energy consumption (industry), which is conducive to self-consumption. It achieves an annual energy production of between 200 and 400 MWh depending on wind conditions, and can be controlled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year via a smartphone application which includes all the data in real time. In addition, they can be used both in off-grid installations (disconnected from the grid) and connected to the grid.

According to Manuel Pinilla, Sales Manager at Norvento, “we want to take advantage of a favourable regulatory scenario for industrial self-consumption such as the one offered by the United Kingdom to continue growing there. Our technology is ready to be marketed in more countries, including Spain, as soon as the regulatory framework is more favourable for self-consumption”.
