Norvento brings energy efficiency and energy savings to 2,000 Galician students

  • Through training given during the first quarter of the course for the social action that is set up every year together with Sotavento.
  • The aim of this initiative was to raise awareness among children and young people of the energy reality in which we live, the challenges involved in generating the energy we consume and the impact this has on the environment.
  • This edition has been very well received by students and teachers, especially in some localities where the initiative has reached for the first time, such as Barro (Pontevedra).

Norvento Enerxía has launched one more year the social action carried out together with Sotavento, which has sought to raise awareness among 2,000 Galician schoolchildren of the energy reality of the society in which we live.

Through a series of actions that have consisted of visiting more than 20 schools in several Galician provinces during the first quarter of the current academic year and hundreds of students visiting the Sotavento experimental park in Xermade (Lugo), Norvento and Sotavento have approached together with children and young people between 11 and 16 years of age various realities such as the operation of our electricity system, or the variety of energy sources that feed it.

In line with Norvento’s objective of bringing knowledge about renewable energies to society, the company has promoted this informative activity in order to encourage the creation of a critical and educated opinion among schoolchildren about our reality as a whole, characterised by excessive consumption and dependence on fossil fuels and increasingly worrying environmental problems derived from energy transformations.

Using dynamic and accessible material for young people, such as infographics, energy calculators or diagrams supported by workshops with real-scale energy installations, a multidisciplinary team of educators from Sotavento with specific training in engineering and pedagogy adapted to the students’ previous knowledge have given this training.

Great reception and arrival in new locations

This is the third consecutive year that Norvento has launched this social action aimed mainly at schools in the municipalities where it operates, with more than 5,000 students trained in saving habits, energy efficiency and respect for the environment.

This latest edition has been very well received by the students and teachers attending, an aspect that is evident in the hundreds of positive evaluations that the activity has received. The case of IES de Barro (Pontevedra) stands out in particular, where the social action has been carried out for the first time this year, and where the activity has been very well received, with the visit of the 4th year ESO students to Sotavento’s facilities, and the visit of the trainers to the class of the youngest students of the centre.
