Norvento, awarded as the Most Sustainable Company at Banco Sabadell Awards “Company of the Year 2025”

• The company was recognised for its strong commitment to sustainability and industrial development in Galicia.
• The jury valued its commitment to innovation for more than forty years, now as demonstrated by the recent launch of the Norvento TECHnPower brand.
• Pablo Fernández Castro, president of Norvento, received the award, emphasising Norvento’s Technological and Industrial Plan, and its enormous repercussion in terms of industrial activity, employment and solid knowledge awareness in our community.

Norvento received yesterday the award for the Most Sustainable Company, in the second edition of the Company of the Year Awards in Galicia, organised by Banco Sabadell and Prensa Ibérica. The awards, already consolidated as a benchmark in Galicia, reward every year entrepreneurs and organisations that stand out for their commitment and contribution to Galician society.

Held at the Pazo Los Escudos in Vigo, the event was attended by the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda; the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero; and leading figures from the business and institutional spheres. This award recognises Norvento’s pioneering trajectory in the renewable energy sector, as well as its strong commitment to sustainability and the industrial development of Galicia for more than 40 years.

Pablo Fernández Castro, president of Norvento, was invited to attend the event to receive the award, highlighting Norvento’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and industrial activity in Galicia: “The profits we make by generating energy are used to develop innovative products and thus create technological and industrial activity in Galicia, with investment and quality employment. We increase employment fivefold in comparison to the sector average, thus making our dream a reality of contributing to environmental, social and economic sustainability, and also to energy and technological independence”.

This great impact in economic and social terms has been carried out thanks to the implementation of Norvento’s Technological and Industrial Plan, focused on designing and manufacturing, from Galicia, state-of-the-art wind turbines for the repowering of wind farms, disruptive power electronics converters for large-scale projects and self-consumption and energy storage systems in batteries.

An emblem, the commitment to technological innovation, particularly evident with the introduction of Norvento TECHnPower, the new brand for Norvento’s technology division, which was presented these days, and which represents the consolidation of the company in the renewable technology sector.

neFO, a self-sufficient factory recognised by Europe

One of the most important projects for Norvento is neFO -Norvento Enerxía Factory Zero- a self-sufficient and emission-neutral industrial plant, that the company is building in the Parque Empresarial As Gándaras (Lugo), which will manufacture all the products of the Norvento TECHnPower brand.

This project has been selected to receive 27.5 million euros from the European Innovation Fund, the only 100% Spanish project selected in its category, and particularly outstanding in the field of sustainability, as it will prevent the emission of 187,000 tonnes of CO₂ from its start-up, which translates into a reduction of 1.8 million tonnes of CO₂ in its first 10 years, equal to the plantation of 180 million trees.

“Norvento, as a company in the renewable energy sector, is already intrinsically sustainable. We generate energy without exhausting primary resources, using sources such as the sun and the wind, which are endless. Beyond that, we have always tried to apply sustainability in all areas of the company,” said Pablo Fernández Castro. “Everything we have done, from technological development to the way we conceive our CIne headquarters -Norvento Enerxía Innovation Centre-, matches this same idea of sustainability. We are committed to developing a positive impact on our environment, by generating energy without polluting, and at the same time we try to contribute to sustainability from a social and economic point of view”, concluded the president of Norvento.
