NORVENTO RELEASES ITS NEW nED100 TURBINE FOR INDUSTRIAL SELF-CONSUMPTION, CAPABLE OF PRODUCING UP TO 400 MWh PER YEAR

  • The new model features logistical, installation, operation, and maintenance improvements over its predecessor, of which the company has deployed dozens of units in the UK.
  • Norvento has developed upgrades in the access to the turbine, a more compact design, optimised blades, and improved electric and electronic systems from the previous version, being designed to operate in microgrids and weak grids. It can be controlled from a commercial smartphone via its own app.
  • The company will install the first unit of this model in its own corporate building in Lugo, 100% self-supplied by renewables and disconnected from the grid.

Lugo, 14th July 2017.- Norvento, a Spanish renewable technologies company with comprehensive performance capabilities, has announced today the release of the new version of their nED100 wind turbine for industrial self-consumption.

This new version is easier to transport, install and operate, and its maintenance is practically reduced to an annual check-up. Entirely developed by Norvento, the new nED100 wind turbine is designed for the medium energy consumption market, such as those of farms, industrial facilities, port facilities or hotel and leisure complexes, among others. The wind turbine will have available measurements between 24 and 26 metres, which allows for adaptations to the particularities of each location.

The nED100 turbine can reach an energy production between 200 and 400 MWh depending on the wind, and can be monitored in real time 24 hours a day, every day of the year, through a smartphone app. Furthermore, the turbine can be deployed both off-gridand grid-connected thanks to the special characteristics of its electronic power converter.

An optimised design to meet the demands of industrial self-consumption

The design of the wind turbine blade has been improved, reaching a diameter of 24 metres without the need for extensions, optimising aerodynamic performance and reducing the weight of the rotor. In addition, the new model reinforces its orientation system, allowing it to improve its operation in high and turbulent wind conditions, which are frequent at wind turbine sites.

The first unit of this new nED100 wind turbine has been installed in the new Norvento HQ building in Lugo, which will be powered entirely by renewable energies. This new headquarters is one of the first corporate buildings in Europe to be 100% self-sufficient and off-grid.

Thanks to the successful deployment of the first nED100 units in the United Kingdom, the company has acquired the necessary experience to improve the design of a pioneering product, the leader in its category. About this, Manuel Pinilla, Sales Manager at Norvento, affirms that “we have successfully completed the learning curve for the nED100, and now we find ourselves even more capable of innovating and providing the sector with groundbreaking technology for industrial self-consumption.”
