Norvento receives support from the European Innovation Fund for its self-sufficient and zero-emission factory neFO in Lugo

• The project has been awarded a grant of €27.5 million by the European Commission.

Norvento has been selected to receive a grant from the European Innovation Fund for its project for a self-sufficient and net-emissions free factory -neFO- to be built in the Parque Empresarial As Gándaras in Lugo, near its CIne headquarters.

The project has been selected to receive a grant of 27.5 million euro. It is one of the 77 projects that have signed the Grant Agreement with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) from a total of 337 submitted, from 27 countries. It is the only project of a 100% Spanish company, selected in the category of manufacturing components for renewable energies with a focus on storage.

A state-of-the-art manufacturing centre in Europe

The self-sufficient and zero-emission factory project, neFO, is an ambitious initiative of Norvento that aims to play a key role in the market for energy generation, management and storage products, with the most disruptive technologies at the service of innovation.

Norvento will build a state-of-the-art factory in Lugo that will manufacture cutting-edge wind turbines, advanced battery storage equipment and modern energy converters, all designed to be seamlessly integrated into a single, efficient system tailored to the needs of its customers. In addition, the neFO project will avoid an annual emission of 187,000 tonnes of CO2 from the moment it comes into operation, as it is an emission-neutral factory that will generate its own energy and store it thanks to the technological systems manufactured there.

In essence, the neFO project is Norvento’s response to the demands of the European energy sector to make renewable energy more competitive and ensure that the company remains at the forefront of technological advancement and contribution to decarbonisation.

One of the biggest funding programmes for the development of low-carbon technologies

The European Innovation Fund (IF) is one of the world’s biggest funding initiatives for the development of low-carbon technologies. It aims to bring solutions to the market to decarbonise European industry and support its transition to climate neutrality, boosting its competitiveness at the same time.
