Norvento TECHnPower has signed an agreement with the University of Alcalá to create a University Chair Programme to promote innovation in power electronics

  • This collaboration aims to promote training, research and knowledge transfer in power electronics applied to renewable energies, artificial intelligence and advanced control systems.
  • Directed by Professor Emilio José Bueno Peña and funded by Norvento TECHnPower, the University Chair Programme will initially run for four years, with the possibility of extension.

Norvento TECHnPower, the technology brand of Norvento, a Galician company with more than 40 years of experience in renewable energy, has signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Alcalá (UAH) to create the Norvento TECHnPower-UAH University Chair Programme, focused on promoting training, research and knowledge transfer in power electronics, artificial intelligence and advanced control systems.

The signing ceremony was attended by Pablo Fernández Castro, President of Norvento, and Francisco Javier de la Mata, Vice Rector for Research and Transfer at the UAH, who agreed on the opportunity that this alliance represents to strengthen applied innovation and collaboration between the university and the technology industry.

Directed by Professor Emilio Bueno and sponsored by Norvento TECHnPower, the University Chair Programme will initially run for four years, with the possibility of extension, and will tackle projects in areas such as digital twins, off-grid networks, artificial intelligence-based control techniques, new hardware architectures, and applications in electrolysers and energy storage systems in power electronics.

Commitment to cutting-edge technology

This initiative is part of Norvento TECHnPower’s innovation strategy, which is advancing the development of cutting-edge technology to promote the production of advanced renewable energy solutions. The company already has extensive experience in designing and implementing power electronics technologies, such as its range of nGM converters, used in industrial self-consumption projects, microgrids and electrification in isolated environments; or its new range of high-power nXL converters, designed for large-scale applications. With the creation of this University Chair Programme, Norvento TECHnPower reinforces its commitment to knowledge transfer and to promoting innovation in next-generation renewable technology.

“The collaboration with the University of Alcalá represents a significant step forward in connecting academic research with industrial innovation. We are convinced that this University Chair Programme will accelerate the development of key technologies to advance towards a more sustainable and efficient energy model, while attracting qualified talent to contribute to technological advances in this field.”, said Pablo Fernández Castro, President of Norvento.

‘This will be an enduring relationship that we hope to continue over time,’ underlined Francisco Javier de la Mata, Vice Rector of UAH. ‘This alliance represents an opportunity to strengthen applied innovation and electronics research, as well as the relationship between the university and the technology industry”, he remarked.
