Norvento welcomes the role given to distributed generation in the Energy Transition Expert Commission report 

Madrid, 2^nd April 2018.-  Norvento, a Spanish renewable technologies company, welcomes the important role given by the Energy Transition Expert Commission to distributed generation in the report that was handed today to the Spanish Government. 

In this regard, other elements inherent to the expansion of distributed generation are also of particular importance to Norvento and are also mentioned in the report. 

For example, those related to sustainable building and the need to specify regulations on nearly zero-energy buildings (also known as zero-energy buildings). The company believes that there is already sufficiently mature and applicable technology available today, thanks to microgrids, to provide buildings and industries as a whole with a high degree of energy independence by generating and consuming their own renewable energy. The recently presented Norvento’s CIne Building, one of the most advanced in the world in that field, is an example of what technology and renewable energies can already achieve.

There are also mentions of the strengthening of an industrial policy based on sustainability, the importance of storage systems, or the transition from a distribution network model that is currently unidirectional to others that are bidirectional, flexible, and intelligent to allow the development of distributed generation and self-consumption. These represent, in Norvento’s opinion, an opportunity to definitively advance towards a much more modern energy system, more participatory and consistent with trends that are already unstoppable. 

Regarding its business of promoting centralised renewable generation plants, Norvento agrees with the commission, considering it necessary for the system to provide long-term investment signals to enable this type of project to be undertaken with a reasonably defined revenue horizon.

Thus, Norvento makes a broadly satisfactory assessment of this report, albeit with caution and prudence, as this is a document whose journey towards legislative materialisation has only just begun.
