Norvento’s headquarters in Lugo remains 100% operational during the blackout.

• The electricity supply to the Norvento Enerxía Innovation Centre, together with all the company’s systems, has remained uninterrupted at all times thanks to the micro-grid that self-supplies the building solely with renewable energies and storage.

• The headquarters, inaugurated in 2018, is a clear example of energy independence, thanks to a system that operates off-grid and is one of the few cases of using this technology, also designed and manufactured by the company, in a corporate building.

• Norvento has been working for more than 40 years on an alternative, decentralised and indigenous energy model, based on energy and technological independence as pillars.

The Norvento Enerxía -CIne- Innovation Centre, the company’s headquarters in Lugo, has remained 100% operational in terms of electricity supply and operation of all its systems during the general blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula yesterday, thanks to its energy independence.

The CIne building has a microgrid disconnected from the grid, which allows it to continue operating autonomously at all times, as it produces energy at the point of consumption from renewable sources and has a battery storage system that works synchronously to ensure a constant supply.

Wind energy, photovoltaic, biomass and battery storage systems driven by intelligent power electronics converters, all technology designed and manufactured entirely by Norvento in Lugo, allow CIne to remain fully operational at critical times like this, but also 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The microgrid that self-supplies the headquarters also uses rainwater and recycles grey water, in a complete system that acts as an island. This is one of the few examples of total energy independence at national level in a corporate headquarters.
